RESEARCH: TASK 16 - Why is sound important?

Sound is so important in film because:

  • it establishes tone and atmosphere
  • without sound, the image is flat, boring and confusing
  • it creates realism
  • it helps to synchronise image and sound
  • it is engaging and draws the audience in
  • it gives clues about the plot and characters
  • it allows you to identify the genre
  • without sound the audience will not understand what is happening in the film
