Research Task 24 - Individual ideas

Ideas for my own title sequence

Genre

I would make a Drama movie. This is because drama movies are very relate-able to real life, so the audience could learn and easily pick up the messages behind the title sequence. It would also be easier for them to get and understanding on what the film is going to be about. Therefore, the direction of the film would be clear to them which is good because by this we can avoid having confusion. Also, because drama movies are engaging because of all the different events that are taking place within the film, so the audience will stay focused and interested on the plot on the film. An example of this is the very successful film Forrest Gump, to give you an idea on what i would like my title sequence to be like.

Key characters
The most important character will be marred male aged 23. He has many insecurities as a result of childhood experience to do with his family. He is very tall and intelligent and claims the reason his success is the result of only his hard work and motivation. Therefore, he has strong negative attitudes towards his family as he claims throughout his life that have been nothing but 'unsupportive'. Other characters would include an ex-lover which is still heavily loved by his family, his siblings (2 sisters) and a mother and a drunken father.

Plot of the film
My film would be centred around one characters experience in a family reunion. This main character would face troubles trying to reconnect with the other members of his family due to the lack on communication, therefore there will be a lot of drama because the main character would be in an uncomfortable stuation. The would be set at a relatives house or a family and would have a massive turn out. Trouble to do with romantic relationships and family issues will arise as this is the main characters opportunity to be open with his feelings against his family that he is no longer close to. There will be awkwardness and argumentative scenes. Essentially by the end of the film all negative feelings will be out in the open, so the family as a whole can work towards fixing these issues to begin repairing their relationships.
